Washington District 2 Little League has once again been selected to host one of the premier events of the Little League tournament season. This is the ninth consecutive year that we have been selected to host the Big League Baseball Western Region tournament. The tournament will be held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds and Events Center baseball complex from July 19th through July 25th.
The Big League Baseball program is for youth age 15 to 18. The Western Region tournament brings in teams from Washington, Hawaii, Northern California, Southern California, and Arizona. Montana and Oregon were unable to join us this year.
This is a wonderful opportunity to come out and watch some great baseball. Admission is free. Cheering is required.
Game Thirteen 10:00am – Hawaii 1 vs. Southern California 6 Great ball game between two excellent teams. We got a bit of light rain during the game, which was the first rain in the area for weeks. Hawaii was the home team and Southern California was visitor. The score was SCA 2 and HI 1 going into the top of the sixth. With bases loaded Jeff Tincher hit a grand slam to put SCA up 6 to 1. We say goodbye to a first rate team from Maui. Great ball players and excellent representatives of their state.
Game Fourteen 1:00pm – Northern California 3 vs. Washington 2 Another great ball game. NCA brought in 2 runs in the bottom of the first but then WA held them scoreless until the 5th. WA tied the score in the top of the frame and NCA answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. Both teams had base runners after that but none were allowed to score by the defenses. The WA team did a great job this year and went deep into the tournament.
Tomorrow we have Southern California vs Northern California in the championship game.
Game Fifteen 10:00am – Northern California 2 vs. Southern California 7
We had a very good ball game in the championship. Southern California got on the board with one run in the top of the first to get things started. Northern California did a good job keeping a lid on the explosive Southern California offense. Northern California brought in two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
A very good team is heading to Easley SC to represent the West in the Big League Baseball World Series.
